Watercolor House Portrait

Instructor: Brie Milam

In this welcoming beginner/intermediate watercolor workshop, artist & instructor Brie Milam will guide you through the basics of watercolor and provide step by step instruction on how to create a unique watercolor portrait of your own home. Students will learn useful techniques for creating an architectural painting, such as sketching using the grid method, wet-on-wet watercolor painting, layering with watercolor, and color mixing using a limited palette. By the end of class you will create a beautiful watercolor portrait of your own home!

Students will need to bring a printed photo of their house, no bigger than 8x10”, which they will use as a reference for their painting. All other materials and tools will be provided.

Brie Milam Brie Milam is a watercolor and abstract artist creating illustrative pieces from her home studio in Dallas, Texas. Her work is filled with expressive and minimalist pieces, drawing inspiration from nature and her inner world. Much of her work centers around mental health, empowerment and mindfulness. Her watercolor workshops focus on learning not only new painting techniques but also enjoying watercolor as a form of mindfulness.
