Intro to Letterpress: Thank You Cards Date: Saturday, November 21, 10 am–3 pm (4-hour studio time, 1-hour lunch break) Instructor: Lily Smith-Kirkley of Lilco Studio Location: Lily’s home print studio (Brettonwoods, Oak Cliff)
In this hands-on workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of printing on a proof press using photopolymer plates. Participants will set up a Vandercook or Challenge press, mix oil-based ink, pull prints, and properly clean the press.
Each student will: -print 20 custom thank-you cards and envelopes chosen from Lily’s original designs -mix ink colors -experiment with off-set printing
The workshop takes place at Lily Smith-Kirkley’s home print studio in the Brettonwoods neighborhood of South Oak Cliff. The address will be shared once you register.
Lily Smith-Kirkley is a letterpress printer, graphic designer, and illustrator. Through her studio, Lilco, she has exhibited with Ladies of Letterpress and has carried her work in shops nationwide, including the Nasher Museum Store.
