Description: Join this annual Oil and Cotton tradition. Clay and ceramics are beloved mediums here, so each summer we do a clay takeover! The first week we will explore earth clays, learn how to build kiln-safe work, giving it time to dry and fire over the weekend. Then on our second Monday, we glaze! Work is kiln fired again with plenty of time to cool down to take home on Wednesday.
We love this camp because it gives kids the opportunity to produce both functional ceramics and whimsical sculptures. In addition to ceramics, we explore other clay bodies, like polymer, paper, modeling, and air dry clays. Our goal is for students to leave with the confidence to know what kinds of clays produce specific results, shop smart, and build sustainably.
Students will finish functional ceramic pieces, as well as several small sculptures, and a series of drawings. *We are ending this camp earlier, because Ms. Kayli will have FIFA fever.
