Every artist knows that frustrating feeling of hitting a creative wall, but in this joyful workshop, we’ll laugh in the face of judgment and limitation, combining bookmaking, collage, and mark making to breathe surprise and new life into our creative practice. We’ll put delight back in the driver’s seat, ditching “the rules” in favor of spontaneity and flow.
We’ll start with the (literal) scrap bin, combining discarded art experiments and leftover papers with carefully chosen ephemera, including old postage stamps, handmade papers, and pages torn from vintage books. Mixing the precious and the one-of-a-kind with actual trash, we’ll use classic techniques to bind the most unlikely combinations into book form. Then we’ll use experimental drawing and collage techniques to turn each page spread into finished art.
You decide how to show up: you’re welcome to bring things – papers to share, a sketchbook page or two, or some “failed” art to repurpose. Or maybe you’d like to come as empty handed as possible, just to discover how much possibility you carry within yourself, even on the most ordinary day. Either way, please join us as we reset our sense of wonder and inspiration. You will walk away with a colorful book you couldn’t have imagined you were about to create, as well as an arsenal of clever tricks to play on your muse whenever inspiration seems to be hiding.

She comes from a background of classical singing; she holds a Master’s degree in vocal performance from the New England Conservatory, and sings with The Dallas Opera.
