Intro to Letterpress: Thank You Cards Date: Saturday, April 4, 10 am–3 pm (4-hour studio time, 1-hour lunch break) Instructor: Lily Smith-Kirkley of Lilco Studio Location: Lily’s home print studio (Brettonwoods, Oak Cliff)
In this hands-on workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of printing on a proof press using photopolymer plates. Participants will set up a Vandercook or Challenge press, mix oil-based ink, pull prints, and properly clean the press. Each student will print a set of 20 custom thank-you cards and envelopes, choosing from Lily’s original designs. All materials are included.
The workshop takes place at Lily Smith-Kirkley’s home print studio in the Brettonwoods neighborhood of South Oak Cliff. The address will be shared once you register. An optional boxed lunch from Oak Cliff’s Trade's Delicatessen is available for an additional charge of $25. Please select from the menu below. Lily Smith-Kirkley is a letterpress printer, graphic designer, and illustrator. Through her studio, Lilco, she has exhibited with Ladies of Letterpress and has carried her work in shops nationwide, including the Nasher Museum Store.
