Location: 2313 Beatrice St. Suite #100
Instructor: Lisa Huffaker
Create your own kaleidoscope in this beginner-friendly workshop geared for people of any age who enjoy creating together. We’ll build unique kaleidoscopes, assembling the internal mirror structure, personalizing the exterior with collage and poetry, and designing an object chamber that reflects each artist’s unique life story. Participants are welcome to bring special mementoes, to make their kaleidoscopes very personal. Collage elements might include a ticket stub from a special concert, an old photograph – any meaningful bit of paper. Objects for the reflection chamber must be pea-sized or smaller, or flat and no bigger than a penny; workable examples include a baby tooth, a sequin from your dance costume, a snip of hair, an apple seed, a bead from a broken bracelet. We’ll have wonderful materials on hand: vintage paper ephemera, colorful collage papers, old postage stamps, and a plethora of tiny trinkets. Friends or family members are welcome to register together, or perhaps you’ll come solo to build a meaningful kaleidoscope as a keepsake or a gift for someone special.
