Goldwork Monogram Workshop
CLASS DATE: Saturday, July 27, 1:00-4:00PM
LOCATION: Oil and Cotton Studio
INSTRUCTOR: Natalie Salhanick

You may have never heard of Goldwork embroidery or maybe you assumed it’s too difficult to learn. This technique is not often used or taught in the US. My monogram letter intro class is designed for absolute beginners. No embroidery experience required.

In this class we’ll be working on a Goldwork monogram. You’ll learn how to work with pearl purl, a traditional metal wire used in embroidery and bright check purl which is commonly used in fashion embroidery.  We will be discussing the basics of padding or stumpwork, but don’t worry I’ll have the hard work done for you. We’ll be stitching on rich velvet fabric to accentuate the shine and sparkle of the gold tone metal.

Kit Materials Provided

- 1 small bamboo embroidery hoop
- 1 pair of embroidery scissors
- 1 prepared design with a letter of your choice
- pearl purl
- bright check purl
- beeswax
- gutterman thread
- John James Needles

PLEASE PROVIDE ME WITH THE LETTER YOU WISH TO MAKE. I will bring random letters for anyone who forgets to send in their letter so we can still learn all the techniques.
